Actor Vijay and Director Shankar received the Award on the 16th Convocation ceremony held by the MGR University. The awards were presented to Vijay and Shankar by both AC Shanmugan the Chancellor of the Dr.MGR University and the honourable Chief Guest Dr.Madhavan Nair from ISRO.

Chancellor Thiru AC Shanmugam on speaking about the university’s decision to choose Vijay as one of the candidate for the doctorate degree, clearly stated that this award was not presented to him for his achievement in movies, but for his mammoth service towards the needy and the society, He also added that Vijay not only does social services by himself, but also directs his humongous fans to take special interest in the environment. AC Shanmugam also highlighted that Vijay’s deeds are similar to those of MGR who helps people and does not expect anything in return.

Many know Vijay as a man of masses, he is also a man who identifies the importance of one’s life time achievement, as a manifestation of this, in his speech during the Convocation ceremony, Vijay stressed the importance of service to our motherland, He requested students to help bring India as one of the best countries in the world. He requested Students to prevent migrating to another country with the wealth of education they gained from our motherland. He also believed that if our students really want to Bring India as a top country they would be able to do it by 2010 beating the target which was originally predicted as 2020.

Vijay is a calm quite personality with immense concern towards the development of his society and country. He very well deserves this Doctorate Degree. We as Vijay fans are exceptionally proud by his achievements and are self-righteous to be his fans.
